Volume of Containers
Calculates the volume of containers at different filling heights.

Shape of the container:

Dimensions:

With this calculator, you can save yourself manual volume measurement.
For example, you can fill the still or fermentation vessel and then determine the liters with an immersed meter stick. Or if you want to fill a certain number of liters, you can calculate the necessary cm filling height beforehand and check this with a meter stick during filling.
The vertical slider represents the filling level. If it is at the top, the vessel is full to the brim. If it is at the bottom, the vessel is empty. The cm filling level and the liters are displayed next to the slider.
The calculator calculates geometrically exactly either a cylinder, i.e. a round container with the same diameter everywhere, or a truncated cone, i.e. a round container with a larger diameter at the top than at the bottom, or a vertical barrel. If the container does not correspond exactly to the geometrical specifications, i.e. has rounded edges, for example, the calculation result is only usable if absolute accuracy is not important. The curvature of a barrel can be very different in shape, for example, halfway up the barrel either very bent or very flat. The curvature calculated here (square parabola) is stronger in the middle of the barrel than at the top and bottom. However, the barrel still does not look kinked in the middle. We have chosen this curvature, firstly because the majority of barrels are designed this way, and secondly because it is a fairly average curvature, so other curvatures also mean similar volumes.
